Reflections on Google Sites - Creating Compelling Content

This week we got to flex our creative muscles.  We planned a fictitious event in the place we shared about last week in our Slides assignment and then made a Google Sites website about it.  This was a fun assignment, as I got to dream about spending more time in Oxford.  My event is set far in the future, as I imagined celebrating my 50th wedding anniversary there.  We spent our 25th anniversary back in 2018 in Oxford, and I thought it would be fitting to plan a golden wedding anniversary party in the same place.

Beyond being enjoyable, this assignment was also quite helpful to me.  One of the items that has been on my to-do list for my business is to create a website.  I can get quite perfectionistic, and I tend to research everything to death before I make a move.  Because of this, I've read a lot about making websites and looked at all sorts of possibilities about what platforms to use and how to go about it.  That's been as far as it's gone, however, as I've not found the "perfect" solution - I always seem to think I should learn more and make sure everything about a platform is exactly what I want before I move forward.  However, after experiencing how easy it is to create a Google Sites website - not to mention it being free - I feel like I can start making my website now even if it's not perfect, knowing I can always change paths later to a different, more robust platform if I want.  I'm looking forward to seeing what I can do with Sites and spending more time learning a bit more about it as I move forward.
