Reflections on Google Forms

Of all the apps we've learned about in this class thus far, I'm most surprised that I have never used Google Forms before.  It's such a natural fit for a homeschool teacher, with the ability to make quizzes and such, but I never actually knew about the app.  Now that I have learned about it and seen how it works, I know that I've encountered Google Forms in the past via forms that I've completed.  I'm excited to explore what I can do with it myself.

Google Forms seems to be a fantastic way to gather information for my business and to test students about their understanding.  I absolutely see myself using it in the beginning stages of getting to know clients and gathering their information.  I can also see using it in the possible financial literacy curriculum I'm thinking of designing for kids.

There are a couple of features in Google Forms I think would be especially great for creating kids' curriculum.  One is the ability to add videos to Google Forms and then ask questions about the content.  The second, and most exciting to me, is the ability to use branching logic, which directs users down different paths depending on their answers to questions.  This could be used in testing increasingly difficult concepts, which would allow a student to be challenged up to and slightly beyond their capabilities, but would end the test before it got too frustrating.  The most fun thought to me, however, is the idea of using the feature almost like a digital "Choose Your Own Adventure" story, where the users are making a series of financial choices that will lead them to one destination or another.  I'm definitely going to start to develop that once this semester is over and my workload decreases.

All in all, I'm excited about what I learned this week and in class so far.  I've learned about so many tools that will further my work and help me be both more organized and more creative.  While I may never be a fan of screens, I'm learning that, taken in moderation, they have the ability to create things I've been unable to with pen and paper.
